Unity  Ride 2008 (was 09/20/2008)

2008 was the first Unity Ride in the Atlanta area, and Crossroads Bikers had the lead role in planning the event, which was held on Sat., Sept. 20, at Great South H-D in Newnan.  We didn't plan this event alone, however, as there were 9 biker ministries that worked on this event for four months.  Wheels of Grace magazine started the idea of a Unity Ride in 2006, at one location (Dallas), and expanded the ride to four cities in 2007 (Dallas, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Lakeland), a ride to benefit Angel Tree.  In 2008, our event was one of 12 nationally.

Crossroads Bikers became involved because we wanted to support Angel Tree, and we've had the pleasure of serving with 12 area biker ministries to help us deliver Angel Tree presents, so we agreed to lead the effort, both in 2008, and in 2009.

Our 2008 ride began and ended at Great South H-D (I-85 exit 41).  All of the comments we received about the event were positive, specifically: Great hospitality, great weather, awesome worship, fellowship, and a great ride.  Thanks to our 2008 sponsors: Airco Sandblasting, Chick-fil-A, Central Point Resources, Crossroads Church, J93.3, New Vision Church, Royal Baptist Church, Crossroads Bikers, Crown of Thorns, Get Right Productions, Cargill Meats, and Shane's Rib Shack.  Great food, including the coffee & donuts from New Vision.

Thanks to Louie Nobs and Randy Carter for speaking to us from the heart about Christian Unity.   Great music from Jeremiah Hobbs, and End of Days Band.  A big thanks to all of the biker ministries that helped in the planning, and showed up to make this ride a success.  We tallied 217 riders from 35 ministries (and five non-ministry clubs)!   Someone counted 153 bikes on the ride.

A few pictures are below (more on our photos page).

The last bit of information about the 2008 Unity Ride  -  On 10/6/2008, Sharon Williams and WIllie Mae Crump from Mid-South Prison Fellowship office came down to Newnan and picked up the Unity Ride toys, and received a check for $1,353.53 - the proceeds from the Atlanta Unity Ride, (thanks to the nine biker ministries on the planning team that donated their share to Angel Tree)!   Those toys were used for Mississippi children that had no church to sponsor them.  Here's a few pictures.

Please join us again, this year is Sat. Sept. 19, 2009 (Same time, same place)

Below is the Wheels of Grace magazine article (published April 2009) that discusses the 2008 Unity Rides.  It's a huge file, so you've got time to trim your nails while it downloads.
